Earth – Our Home

Earth – Our HomeEarth is the name of the planet we live in.

Earth has air to breathe,  pleasant temperatures, light and lots of water—without which there would be no life here.

Water

Earth is the only planet in our solar system that has a large amount of liquid water.
 	Earth is also called "Blue Planet" as it looks blue from outer space.
 	Because of availability of water, Earth is home to millions of species of plants and animals.

Sun

The Earth moves around the Sun.
 	Sun gives us the light and heat needed for life to grow.
 	Distance from the Sun is perfect for life to survive.
 	More close, it would have been too hot, and further away would have made Earth too cold.

Air

Air is mostly gas. Even though it is all around us we can’t see it.
 	Earth's air consists of oxygen and a mixture of other gases, such as nitrogen, methane and carbon dioxide.
 	Air is important for living beings. People, plants, animals need air to breathe and stay alive.
