After recently becoming the second-richest person, Elon Musk has become the world’s richest person, surpassing Jeff Bezos. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos had held the spot since 2017.
Musk’s fortune has crossed US$185 billion. He became the richest after his company Tesla’s share price increased on Thursday.
Electric car company Tesla is the world’s most valuable car company with a current value of US$700 billion. This is more than Toyota, Volkswagen, Hyundai, GM and Ford combined.
What did the world’s richest person say? Mr Musk reacted to the news on Twitter, replying to a user with the words “how strange”.
However, Jeff Bezos’ fortune has also risen over 2020. Amazon has greatly benefited from the COVID-19 crisis as demand for its online services went up.
