Entertainment channels Zee, Sony merge

The topmost entertainment channels have decided on a merger.
Sony and Zee are two different entertainment networks channel. Over the years, they have been broadcasting a wide variety of content and entertaining us. They have also been competitors.
Sony Pictures Networks India(SPN) has signed merger agreements with Zee Entertainment television. This merger means coming together. With this collectively these two channels will become India’s second-largest entertainment network.
In this merger, Sony networks will hold the majority shares in the merged company. Zee network will own 3.99% and other Zee shareholders will hold 45.15% shares in the merged company.
The new merged network of Sony and Zee will include 75 TV channels, two video streaming channels, i.e, Sony LIV and ZEE5. Moreover, it will include two film studio channels, which include Zee Studios and Sony Pictures Films. A digital content studio, Studio NXT will also be included in the merged entertainment network.
Mr Punit Goenka will continue to be the Managing Director (MD) and CEO of the combined entity of ZEE-Sony.
