Family spots rare white grizzly bear in CanadaThe grizzly bear (also known as the North American brown bear or simply 'grizzly') is found in Canada and the US. It is a large bear which is around five to eight feet tall and weighs around 362 kg. Its fur is usually different shades of brown in colour.

In May 2020, a family was out for a drive on a remote highway in Banff National Park. This park is located in Canada’s Rocky Mountains.

During the drive, to their surprise, they spotted a white-coloured grizzly bear. It was roaming around, searching for food with its sibling, which had darker fur. White grizzly bears are very rare.

Local wildlife officials have known about the white grizzly since 2017, but this is the first time the public has seen it. It has sparked a lot of interest. Experts believe that this bear is white due to some rare genes in its family.

As the park is reopening after the COVId-19 shutdown, wildlife officials hope that the bear will move higher up the mountains, away from people.
