Today, lets read about a frozen lake in China, called Butterfly Lake which looks like the inside of a kaleidoscope.

What is a kaleidoscope?

A kaleidoscope is an optical instrument with two or more reflecting surfaces.
 	The reflecting surfaces show a continually changing pattern of shapes, colours, and scenes.

Where is Butterfly Lake located?

This frozen lake is located in the Xinjiang region of northwest China.
 	A video taken by a drone camera gave a beautiful view of this lake.
 	The cracks on the lake look like the outline of tree branches.
 	The lake also has a walkway bridge which is covered with snow.
 	The cracks in the ice are often visible when there is a sudden temperature drop.
 	The actual trees on the ground are also covered in snow.

So, from the air, the beautiful patterns looks like something which is seen inside of a kaleidoscope! You can also see the beautiful video below.
