Assam

Assam has been receiving heavy rains. This has led to floods over two months in many districts and affected millions of people. Many wildlife sanctuaries including the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) are also flooded.

On Tuesday, two rhinos were seen near people's houses around the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary. They were searching for food as the wildlife sanctuary is flooded. The Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is home to 102 rhinos. Officials and locals are working to provide food to the rhinos.

A few days earlier, a female rhino and her child were also seen in an area where people live in Myung in the Morigaon district.

Bihar

Due to the heavy rains caused by the Southwest Monsoon, floods are happening in other states as well.

In Bihar, floodwaters have spread to 11 districts, affecting millions. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are working to rescue people.

Maharashtra

Mumbai in Maharashtra also received heavy rains and facing waterlogging.

North India

Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh are expected to receive heavy rains over the next few days.

However, many states in Southern India have received less rain than usual this July.
