How long is a year on other planets?

Recommended for Foundational Grades

A year on other planets.

First of all, what is a ‘year’? A year is a time period that a planet takes to make a full trip around the Sun. A year on Earth is 365 days (or 365 days plus 6 hours to be exact).

What about other planets in the solar system?

Mercury is the planet closest to the Sun. So, a year on Mercury is 88 days (Earth days).

Venus is the second closest to the Sun and a year is 225 days.

After Venus, comes Earth. And after Earth, comes Mars. On Mars, a year is 687 days.

Next is Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system. A year on Jupiter is 4,333 days.

After that, on Saturn a year is 10,759 days.

Uranus is the second-last planet. A year on Saturn is 30,687 days.

The last planet in the solar system is Neptune. A year on Neptune is 60,190 days. That is about 164 Earth years!
