Huawei to present 5G use case at India Mobile Congress

Recommended for Mobile

India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has given its approval to Chinese telecom company Huawei to participate in the demonstration of 5G use cases during the upcoming India Mobile Congress in New Delhi.

  • The DoT has given many telecom service providers approval to demonstrate India-specific 5G technology-use cases along with their vendor partners, including Huawei.
  • However, DoT has not yet confirmed if Huawei can participate in the upcoming 5G field trials.

The news came ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India today and tomorrow.

The India Mobile Congress is the largest digital technology forum in South Asia.

  • The DoT and the Cellular Operator Association of India (COAI) jointly organise the event.
  • This year, the India Mobile Congress will be held from 14 to 16 October in Delhi.
  • It will bring together the mobile industry, government, researchers, and other parties, to discuss and display the latest in the technology world.
  • During the event, Huawei is likely to be working with its partners, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea.

In June, Huawei signed a deal to develop 5G in Russia. However, the US has also banned Huawei for security concerns.
