IAAF World Athletics Championships 2019 comes to an end

IAAF World Athletics Championships 2019 comes to an endThe IAAF World Athletics Championships 2019 in Doha, Qatar, came to an end yesterday. It topped the list of all World Championships to date, according to IAAF* competition performance rankings.

The athletes set six championship records.
 	43 countries won medals while athletes from 68 different nations achieved at least one top-eight placing.
 	86 national records were broken.
 	The United States topped the medals tally with 29 medals in total - 14 golds, 11 silvers and 4 bronzes.
 	Kenya came second while Jamaica came third (fewer gold medals than Kenya).
 	Based on the IAAF scoring tables, Joe Kovacs (US) was the best male performer (men's shot put gold medallist). The best female performer was women's long jump champion Malaika Mihambo (Germany).

Here is a list of some of the winners of the IAAF World Athletics Championships 2019.

Men's categories

Christian Coleman (US) won gold in 100 metres race.
 	Noah Lyles (US) won gold in 200 metres sprint.
 	 Timothy Cheruiyot (Kenya) won gold in 1500 metres race.
 	Tajay Gayle (Jamaica) won gold in long jump.
 	Muktar Edris (Ethiopia) won gold in 5000 metres race.
 	The US also won golds in the 4X100 metre relay and 4X400 metre relay races.

Women's categories

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (Jamaica) won gold in 100 metres race and became the fastest woman alive.
 	Dina Asher-Smith (UK) won gold in 200 metres race.
 	Hellen Obiri (Kenya) won gold in 5000 metres race.
 	Sifan Hassan (Netherlands) won gold in 1500 metres.
 	Jamaica won gold in the 4X100 metre relay and the US won the 4X400 metre relay race.
