IIT Madras team wows at the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition 2019

IIT Madras team wows at the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition 2019A team of students from India won hearts at the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition 2019.

The competition was held in Los Angeles, the US on 21st July 2019.

The team is called Avishkar Hyperloop.
 	They are students from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.
 	Avishkar Hyperloop was the only Asian team to enter the final of the hyperloop competition.
 	Though Avishkar Hyperloop did not win the competition, they impressed SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and Virgin Hyperloop One Co-founder Josh Geigel with their hyperloop project.

What is Hyperloop?

Hyperloop is a new form of ground transport currently in development by a number of companies.
 	It uses floating pods within low-pressure tubes.
 	The pods are designed to float, rather than using wheels like a train or car.
 	These pods travel through tubes or tunnels from which most of the air has been removed to reduce friction.
 	This should allow the pods to travel at up to 1000 kilometres per hour.
