India and South Africa commenced playing their first test of the three-match test series.

The Indian team led by Virat Kohli dominated the game against South Africa as they scored a century partnership. KL Rahul scored a century on the first day while Mayank Agarwal scored a half-century. The captain himself had 35 runs before losing his wicket.

On the first day, India's score stood still at the score of  272/3.  Day 2 was called off due to rains. On Day 3, India faced batting collapse and scored 327 runs.

On the other hand, South Africa lost some quick wickets while the South African captain Dean Elgar could only score 1 run in the first innings.

India won the first match of the three-match test series of the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 at the SuperSport Park on December 30.

With this win over South Africa, India has won the 4th test in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship(WTC). They have 64.28 per cent points. While South Africa lost their first match and they are placed second from the bottom.
