Google's main goal in making tools like LaMDA is to give academics resources they can use to look into language models and the data they were trained on.

AI chatbots are used in businesses today for a wide range of tasks, such as customer service, making personalised suggestions, and making sales.

LaMBDA is a machine-learning language model that Google created in order to make an artificial intelligence system (AI) mimic the way people talk.
LaMBDA is different from most other language models because it was made with conversations in mind, just like humans.
The model can read a lot of words and also pay attention to how those words fit together. Also, it can guess what words will come after the ones it just read.
Even though most conversations are about certain things, the way people talk makes them often open-ended.
LaMBDA could start a conversation in one place and end it in another, talking about a lot of different things along the way. For example, you could start by talking about a movie show and then talk about the place where the movie was made.
The goal of LaMDA's conversational skills is to let people talk freely about a wide range of topics.
