Leading by example – Lee Kuan YewLee Kuan Yew (also referred to as LKY) was the first Prime Minister of Singapore who served for 30 years!

Let us learn about his life history and work achievements.

Lee Kuan Yew was born on 16th September 1923. He did his schooling in Singapore and went to the London School of Economics for higher studies.
 	He completed his law degree and became a legal advisor in Singapore.
 	Mr Lee eventually got into politics and created his own party named the People’s Action Party. 
 	On 5th June 1959, he became the first Prime Minister of Singapore (when it was still under Malaysia).
 	Then, on 16th September 1963, Singapore became a separate independent country from Malaysia.
 	Lee was a simple, honest and brave leader. Under his leadership, Singapore grew from a developing country to one of the most developed nations in Asia.
 	Due to his many achievements, he is known as ‘The Founding Father of Singapore.’
 	After he stepped down from being the Prime Minister in 1990, he got the title of the Senior Minister, which was an advisory role.

Mr Lee died on 23rd March 2015. This famous leader is remembered for his great service to his country.
