LEGO’s initiative for the environment

LEGO’s initiative for the environmentThe LEGO Group recently brought out a new LEGO Friends theme called “Sea Life Rescue” which includes play sets that are designed around the idea of saving sea life.

National Geographic Kids* has worked with LEGO to develop this theme
 	The idea is to inspire children to take action to keep our oceans safe for all animals
 	They have chosen this important topic of protection of ocean animals as this is a very important environmental issue for us today
 	Last year, they launched LEGO parts made from plant-based plastic based on sugar-cane. This is better for the environment as it is biodegradable* unlike the plastic we use

The UN (United Nations) marks 5th June as World Environment Day to increase awareness on environmental issues like pollution, global warming and threat to sea creatures and wildlife.

It is good to see that companies are also taking steps forward in this direction.

*biodegradable - something that can be broken down into a natural form and does not cause pollution

*National Geographic Society - One of the largest scientific and educational organizations in the world; National Geographic Kids is a part of this
