Let’s learn about Hockey!

Do you like playing outdoor games like Cricket and Football? Today let us learn about another game that is very special for India! This is Hockey!

Hockey is played by 2 teams of 11 players each.
 	Each team has 1 goalkeeper and 10 other players.
 	A team tries to score by hitting a small ball into the opposite team’s goal. The team with the higher score wins.
 	The hockey we play in India is also called Field Hockey because it is played on a big field.
 	A very similar game is played on a ground covered with ice! It is called Ice Hockey or Bandy and is very popular in Russia!
 	The Field hockey is played in four quarters. Each is of it is 15 minutes with a short break in between them. It was earlier played in two halves of 35 minutes each with 1 break.
 	The special thing about hockey is - players can only touch or hit the ball using a hooked stick! This is called a hockey stick.
 	Both Field Hockey and Ice Hockey are played by many countries and World championships are held for both games.

Manpreet Singh is India's hockey captain for the men's team and Rani Rampal is the captain of India's women's team.
