Lockdown in India to be extended with strict implementation in 13 citiesCOVID-19 cases in India have increased to more than 1,74,000, out of which more than 82,000 have recovered. India recorded its biggest single-day jump in cases with nearly 8,000 new infections.

The government is all set to extend the lockdown for two more weeks. It will be more strictly enforced in 13 cities that have recorded 70% of the total COVID-19 cases.

The lockdown has caused immense hardship, especially for migrant workers, stranded without wages. Experts are also concerned that migrant children will drop out of school.

West Bengal is easing restrictions starting 1 June.
 	Mosques are set to open in Karnataka on 1 June.

There are over 5.92 million cases worldwide, out of which more than 2.49 million cases have recovered.

 	Brazil is nearing almost 5,00,000 cases even as President Bolsonaro is being criticized for his inaction.
 	A new study shows that pangolins may have incubated the COVID-19 virus (helped it grow). However, more studies are needed.
