Marsquake: First quake detected on Mars

Recommended for Mars

NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) scientists have detected Marsquake on the planet Mars, which is very similar to earthquake. This was detected with the help of information sent by Insight*.

  • This is said to be the first earthquake type of activity recorded on the other planet.
  • There were continuous deep noise vibrations on Mars on April 6, 2019.
  • The noise on Mars stood out as the surface of Mars is extremely quiet when compared to Earth.
  • Scientists are still studying this noise further to confirm the reason behind it.
  • There were similar noises observed on 14th March, 10th April and 11th April. But as they were smaller and unclear,  scientists were unsure whether they were marsquakes.
