Natural calamities in newsThe first week of July, 2019 was a busy week for the rescue and disaster management teams around the world.

On Tuesday 2nd July, Mumbai in India experienced the heaviest rainfall after the 2005 rains.

Public transport facilities were disrupted due to flooding.
 	Many homes have been swept away, and people are missing.

On Wednesday 3rd July, Stromboli in Italy saw a series of eruptions from the most active volcano on Earth.

1 hiker was killed, while others jumped into the sea to escape the flowing lava.
 	As the volcano is not very high, a lot of people visit it.

On 3rd July, island of Kyushu in Japan received a year's worth of rain in 24 hours.

Around a million people were told to evacuate amidst fears of landslide and flooding.

On 4th July, Southern California in the US was hit by a 6.4 magnitude earthquake and around 160 aftershocks.

A more powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.1 rocked the region on Friday 5th July.
 	It was the strongest earthquake to hit Southern California in 20 years.
 	Several fires, gas leaks and damage to power lines were reported.

On Sunday 7th July, an earthquake of magnitude 6.9  struck near the Maluku archipelago, Indonesia.

Authorities issued a tsunami warning and people rushed to higher ground. Later the warning was lifted.
