New ‘Banana Leaf Technology’ can fight plastic pollution

New ‘Banana Leaf Technology’ can fight plastic pollutionPlastic pollution is a big problem in the world today. Many countries are banning single-use plastic to try and stop their harmful effects.

20-year-old Tenith Adithyaa, a scientist from a village in Tamil Nadu, has invented a technology to replace single-use plastic. It is called ‘Banana Leaf Technology’.

What is ‘Banana Leaf Technology’?

This technology treats the banana leaves with non-harmful chemicals to make it last for up to 3 years.
 	Additionally, it is cheap and also environment-friendly as it can be used to feed cows. So, there is no wastage.
 	Poor farmers can also earn more money by selling more banana leaves.

How did Tenith do this invention?

When he was around 10 years old, Tenith wanted to do something to reduce wastage of banana leaves as well as help the poor farmers in his village.  So, he experimented with different ideas. Over the years, he came up with this new technology.

When he was 18, he also started his own company, Tenith Innovations Private Limited, and his new technology has won many awards.

This is indeed a very inspiring story and a very important invention.
