New survey shows that 86% of Internet users are being duped by fake news

New survey shows that 86% of Internet users are being duped by fake news
 	According to a global survey published on 11th June, eighty-six per cent of Internet users, have been duped (fooled) by fake news.
 	The survey was conducted by Ipsos on behalf of the Centre for International Governance Innovation.
 	It was conducted on 25,000 Internet users in 25 countries between 21st December 2018 and 10th February 2019.

Results of the survey

Fake news appeared to be highest on Facebook, but also appears on YouTube, blogs and Twitter.
 	The US is believed to spread the most amount of fake news, followed by Russia and China.
 	The results showed that people in Egypt were the most gullible* while people in Pakistan were the most sceptical*.
 	The results also revealed a high distrust of social media companies and growing concerns over privacy.

The people who participated in the survey said they want both government and social media companies to be more strict towards the spread of fake news.

The spread of fake news also negatively impacts economies and political debates.

*Gullible: Someone who is easily fooled/believes everything easily.

*Sceptical: Doubting that something is true or useful.
