Norway is world’s first country to ban deforestation.

Norway is world’s first country to ban deforestation.Norway has become the world's first country to ban deforestation (cutting of trees).

The Norway government will no longer allow any company to cut trees.

The Norway government made a pledge with Germany and the UK to promote the usage of deforestation-free products.
 	Norway has invested millions of dollars to stop deforestation in Brazil, Liberia and Indonesia.
 	Norway is working towards finding an alternative method to produce palm oil, soy, beef and wood products. The main source of these products are trees, which leads to deforestation.

Why should we stop deforestation?

If the deforestation continues, the world's rainforests (forests with high rainfall) can vanish completely in the next 100 years.
 	Forests cover 31% of the land and are home to 80% of the world's land animals and plants.
 	Loss of forests means loss of many species (family of living organisms).
 	Trees play an important role in producing oxygen, maintaining air quality and the environment.

Through this move, Norway is setting an example for other countries!
