Hearing-impaired twins, Parvathy and Lekshmi clear Engineering Services Exam

Siblings  Pravathy A.S and Lekshmi A.S. have cleared Engineering Services Examination 2021. The examination was conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). They secured 74th and 75th ranks in the civil engineering category.

The early life of Parvathy and Lekshmi

Life has not been easy for the two girls. Their mother had a partial hearing impairment but she proved her worth to raise her three children. Her son Vishnu is a CET alumnus and he works as an assistant engineer in Public Works Department (PWD).

Their mother is a superintendent in the PWD. She enrolled both Lekshmi and Parvathy at the National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH). The girls were coached in speech therapy to read lip movements. Since then, the two sisters have never looked back.

Their Achievements

Parvathy and Lekshmi are hearing-impaired twins. They are graduates of the College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram(CET).

The two girls dream of working in the Indian Defence Service of Engineers (IDSE). Lekshmi works as an assistant engineer in the irrigation department while Parvathy is waiting for her appointment through Staff Selection Commission (SSC) as a junior engineer in the Central Public Works Department.

In 2015, Parvathy and Lekshmi grabbed headlines when they scored 1,187 and 1,185 marks in the 12th class examination. The twins completed BTech in civil engineering at CET in 2019.

The two sisters have worked hard, they read the lips of their teachers to understand the concepts. They could attain success without the assistance of other digital aids.

Curious Times congratulates Lekshmi and Parvathy for their success. You’re surely an inspiration to our curious readers.
