An advocate is a person who is professionally qualified to plead the cause of another in a court of law.
 	The terms 'lawyer' and 'advocate' are often used interchangeably. However, technically a lawyer, is one who is still studying law. On the other hand, an advocate refers to a lawyer who has completed his studies and is now practising law.
 	To be an advocate, one needs to complete a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree, followed by an internship with a practising advocate or law firm.
 	Then one gets enrolled with the state bar council as a certified lawyer.
 	There are various fields that a lawyer can specialise in, including, intellectual property, criminal, family, employment, immigration and more.

A career as an advocate is one of the most sought after professions.

Its great earning potential, flexible timings, an opportunity to help others, diverse practice area, etc are some of the reasons people choose this profession.
 	At the same time, there are plenty of challenges as well, which include the stress of deadlines, long working hours, changing laws and client demands, poor public image and more.

Some famous lawyers and advocates are Michelle Obama, Ram Jethmalani, Kapil Sibal, Vrinda Grover, to name a few.
