Now, a photographer has captured a picture of a bright pink manta ray.

What is a manta ray?

Mantas are one of the largest fish in the world reaching up to 29 feet (8.8 m) in width.
 	They are usually white in colour and found in coastal areas of the Indo-Pacific waters.
 	They feed on the large amounts of zooplankton and coral spawn.

About the pink manta ray

The pink manta ray named Inspector Clouseau was spotted around Lady Elliot Island.
 	The island is the southernmost coral cay of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, also known as the 'Home of the Manta Ray'.
 	It was first spotted in 2015 and the only known pink manta ray in the world.
 	According to the researchers, its colour is just an unusual and unique expression of the skin’s melanin*.
 	It was born grey but changed colour because of a pink dye obtained from its red brine-shrimp diet.

*Melanin - a pigment responsible for the colour of hair, skin, and iris of the eye of people and animals.
