President Kovind awards the President’s Colour to Indian Naval Academy

President Kovind awards the President’s Colour to Indian Naval AcademyPresident Ram Nath Kovind awarded the President’s Colour to the Indian Naval Academy (INA) on 20 November 2019. The President’s Colour is the highest honour that is awarded to a military unit.

President Kovind also congratulated the INA on completion of 50 years of Naval Academy.

Academy Cadet Captain Sushil Singh received the award on behalf of the Indian Naval Academy.
 	President Kovind also released a special postal cover to commemorate the occasion.
 	 The Supreme Commander of Indian Armed Forces along with Indian Naval officers, staff, Governors, State Ministers were also present at the ceremony.
 	This year's award is a recognition of the yeoman service (efficient or useful help in need) provided by the INA.
 	The institution's services include training and producing multi-faceted officers for the Indian Navy.
 	The INA has been training officers for the last fifty years at three different locations - Kochi, Goa and Ezhimala.

INA, Ezhimala, has commissioned 5930 officers, into the Indian Navy and Coast Guard including 531 women officers in the last 10 years.
