Renewable energy to potentially surpass coal in the U.S. by 2021

Renewable energy to potentially surpass coal in the U.S. by 2021New studies show that renewable energy resources may be used more than coal in the US by 2021.

Renewable energy is generated from natural resources that do not get over. These natural resources are sunlight, wind, water, tides, geothermal and biomass.

Non-renewable energy is generated by resources that will at some point get over or will take more than a lifetime to refill and restock. Examples of non-renewable sources are coal, petroleum, natural gas and nuclear energy.

For years, coal has been the most important resource for power generation in homes and industries.
 	But power from hydroelectric dams, solar panels, wind turbines etc. has also been increasing.
 	According to the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA), the US will get more power from renewable energy sources than from coal in 2021.
 	The use of coal is falling in the US, with more than 50 coal power plants shut down in the last few years.
 	On the other hand, more industries are using solar and wind power to generate electricity.

Why is it a good sign?

Using renewable resources is better for the environment. These resources do not pollute the atmosphere and are found easily everywhere.
 	Using non-renewable sources like fossil fuels releases harmful gases into the atmosphere, such as carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide etc.
