Sadat Rahman wins International Children’s Peace Prize 2020

Sadat Rahman is a 17-year-old teen boy living in Bangladesh. He has won the International Children’s Peace Prize 2020 for his work in helping young people fight cyberbullying.
What is the International Children’s Peace Prize?
The International Children’s Peace Prize is a yearly award that recognises the work of young people who promote children’s rights. Previous winners include Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg.
The winner receives a €100,000 cash award to help their work as well as a small statue. The statue shows a child pushing a ball, which “shows how a child sets the world in motion”.
This year’s winner, Sadat Rahman, created a mobile app called Cyber Teens. It helps young people report online (cyber) abuse. He created it after he heard the sad story of a 15-year-old girl who took her own life because of bullying.
Sadat Rahman plans to use the prize money to spread the app further in his home country.
This year, 142 children from 42 different countries were nominated for the International Children’s Peace Prize. It included 24 children from India.
