Sailors rescue dog lost in the Arctic (video)Russian sailors recently rescued a dog in the Arctic. The poor dog, named Aika, had been walking through the freezing Arctic for more than a week.

The sailors were on an icebreaker ship in northern Russia. Suddenly, they came across Aika floating on ice. When the dog saw them, she started wagging her tail and walked carefully towards the ship. Then, the sailors put down a ladder for her to climb up.

After that, the sailors asked around the area and found Aika's owner. The owner said that she had run away during a walk around their village more than a week ago. Thankfully, after the rescue, she is doing fine.

Aika is a type of dog known as a Samoyed. They have thick, fluffy white coats and look like they are always smiling. They are found in the cold regions of northern Russia and Siberia.

Samoyed dogs are named after the Samoyedic peoples of Siberia. They were originally used for hunting and herding reindeer, and pulling sledges.
