Scientists discover a new species of frog in Assam

Scientists discover a new species of frog in AssamA new species of frog has been discovered in the Cachar district of Assam.

The discovery was made by scientists from the University of Delhi and Wildlife Institute of India, in collaboration* with researchers from Indonesia and the US.
 	The new species has been named ‘aishani’ meaning 'northeast' where Assam is located.

The new frog belongs to the group of Micryletta frogs.
 	These Micryletta frogs are commonly known as paddy frogs and were first discovered in Sumatra, Indonesia.
