Several public figures test positive for COVID-19India has reported over 1.85 million COVID-19 cases. More than 1.23 million patients in India have recovered. India's recovery rate is at 66.30% as of today.

Several important public figures in the country have tested positive for the virus. This includes Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
 	The Supreme Court has directed the government to pay the pension to elderly persons on time. Those living in old age homes to be provided with personal protective equipment (PPE), sanitisers and face masks.

What is the situation worldwide?

Globally, over 18.2 million cases have been reported. 10.9 million of those have recovered.
 	The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has warned that the world is facing a "generational catastrophe" (disaster) because of school closures amid the pandemic. Hundreds of millions of children are out of school currently which will affect their futures. It will especially affect children with disabilities and those from disadvantaged and poor communities.
 	The Philippines has ordered millions of its citizens to stay at home as cases increase.
 	Australia is imposing strict on-the-spot fines for people who ignore orders to self-isolate.
 	Australia was due to host the Men’s T20 World Cup in October 2020, but it has been postponed.
