Snake plants purify the air

The snake plant gets it unique name from its snake-like look.

Its scientific name is Sansevieria - isn't that much more difficult to say than 'snake plant'!
 	Snake plant is found in tropical (warm weather) countries like India, Indonesia, and Africa.
 	Most snake plant varieties have sword-like leaves with a gray, silver, or gold edge.
 	Snake plant is grown both indoor and outdoors as a decorative plant.

It has become a very popular indoor plant these days.

It is very easy to grow as it does not ask for much attention or care.
 	It is one of the most popular air purifying plants.
 	Snake plant can absorb poisonous gases in the air.
 	Unlike most plants, it gives off oxygen* in low light of the night too.

Keeping a snake plant at home may be one of the ways to help clean indoor air.

You could try growing one after discussing this with your elders.

*oxygen - All living organisms, except plants, breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. All plants breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen during the day time.
