Space selfie! Zhurong rover sends photos from MarsIt's space selfie time! China's Zhurong rover recently sent some new photos it took on Mars, including a 'selfie'.

Zhurong is China's first-ever rover to land on another planet. It also makes China only the second country to land a rover on Mars (after the US).

What can you see in Zhurong's new "space selfie"?

In the photo, you can see Zhurong in a birdlike pose; its solar panel "wings" are outstretched and two camera "eyes" are looking ahead towards Mars' scenery.

The photo is a "selfie" as Zhurong placed a camera on Mars's surface and posed in front of it. However, you can also call it a "group photo" since Zhurong's lander is also visible in the photo.

After the camera took the photo, it transmitted it to Zhurong. Zhurong then sent it to the Tianwen-1 spacecraft which is in space, orbiting Mars. Then, finally, Tianwen-1 sent the photo to Earth.

The China National Space Administration (CNSA) also released a 360-degree panoramic view of Utopia Planitia. This is where Zhurong is right now.
