Spain’s Villarreal win their first UEFA Europe League title

Last night, Spanish football club Villarreal beat English club Manchester United to win the UEFA Europe League title for 2021. The match was played at Gdansk in Poland. Villarreal defeated Manchester United 11-10 on penalties after a 1-1 draw after regular time.
Villarreal’s Gerard Moreno and Manchester United’s Edinson Cavani scored one goal each. This is Villareal’s first time winning the Europa League. They have won the trophy without getting beaten even once this season.
The win also means that the club will be qualified to play in the Champions League next season. This win is a record for Villarreal’s coach Unai Emery. It is his fourth UEFA Europe League win as a manager. He won his previous three Europa League trophies while managing Sevilla (another Spanish club).

The UEFA Europa League (or UEL) is an annual football club competition organised by UEFA (Union of European Football Associations). It is the second-level competition of European club football, ranking below the UEFA Champions League.
