Tennis: Roger Federer withdraws from French OpenThe tennis grand slam tournament French Open 2021 is currently underway. Things are heating up as participants are playing to enter the round of 8.

In men's singles, Roger Federer withdrew from the tournament. He was due to play Matteo Berrettini for a place in the quarter-finals on Monday. The 39-year-old tennis player says he has withdrawn as his health is still recovering.

Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are through to the last 16 and will play today for a spot in the last 8.

In women's singles, the highest-ranking player Serena Williams is out of the tournament after losing in the 4th round. She lost to Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina. This means Serena will have to wait longer to reach her record 24 grand slam wins in tennis.

Defending champion Iga Swiatek is still in the running.

This is the 125th edition of the French Open tennis tournament. It started on 30 May at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France. It will end on 13 June 2021.
