This Women’s Day, women can visit all monuments under ASI for freeToday is International Women's Day.

On this special day, the Union Culture Ministry has announced that women can visit all monuments maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for free!

This free entry applies to all ticketed monuments including the Taj Mahal.
 	This offer is not only for Indian citizens but even for foreign women tourists.
 	Union Culture Minister Prahlad Patel said the decision was taken in keeping with India’s tradition of “giving respect to women”.
 	He also said that the ASI is working to ensure women's safety at the monuments.

What is the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)?

It is an Indian government agency attached to the Ministry of Culture that is responsible for archaeological research in India.
 	It also conserves and preserves cultural monuments in the country. Currently, it is responsible for 3,691 monuments in India.

Which monuments come under the ASI?

Some famous monuments under ASI include the Red Fort and the Qutub Minar in Delhi, Sun Temple in Konark (Odisha), Golkonda Fort in Hyderabad, Palace of Tipu Sultan in Bengaluru, etc.
