Tiger in India sets record for ‘longest walk’ ever – 1,300 kmA tiger in India has set a record for the 'longest walk' ever. He has travelled around 1300 km in 5 months!

What do we know about this tiger?

The tiger, called C1, was born in Tipeshwar wildlife sanctuary in Maharashtra.
 	C1 was fitted with a radio collar in February 2019, so that authorities could keep a track of him.
 	He left the wildlife sanctuary at the end of June. Since then, he has travelled through seven districts in Maharashtra and Telangana, crossing roads, fields and more.
 	Authorities say he is currently located in Dnyanganga, another wildlife sanctuary in Maharashtra. Dnyanganga does not have any tigers.

Why did the tiger take this long walk?

Experts say that he is must have travelled in search of food, territory or a mate (a female).
 	Tigers are an endangered species and also need large territories. Tiger numbers have been increasing in India, but their habitat (forests where they live) has shrunk.

What next for the tiger?

Authorities need to find his exact location soon as the battery on his radio collar is dying out.
 	However, he is not a danger to humans and has not caused any incidents, despite roaming around where people live.
