UN report on nature crisis: Animals and plants are in danger

According to a United Nations (UN) report, one million animal and plant species are in danger of becoming extinct (dying out).

One million is 1 followed by 6 zeros - 1,000,000 (also 10 Lakhs). A very big number isn't it!

Human activity is killing species in greater numbers than ever before.

Earth gives its resources to meet human demands, but in the past 50 years demand has increased more than supply
 	Many forests have been cleared out, and less green spaces are seen now.
 	Land and oceans are becoming more and more polluted, causing living creatures and plants to die
 	Plastic pollution has increased - on land, in water and even in the food we eat (micro-plastics)
 	Factories and vehicles are causing air pollution

The biggest reason for this situation is our increasing need for more resources and energy.

The three R’s approach – Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle , is a good way to reduce consumption and waste.
