Venice to tackle over-tourism with an entry fee!
Recommended for Middle Grades
Salutations, eager learner! Guess what? Venice, the beautiful city in Italy, has come up with a super-duper plan to solve a big problem. They’ve decided to make visitors pay money to enter the city! Isn’t that funny? Let’s find out more about this new rule and what it means.
Venice’s Ticketed Welcome: Solving Overtourism!
- Starting from now, if you want to go to Venice, you have to book your trip online and pay some money. The price can be as low as 3 euros, which is like having three yummy ice creams, or it can be up to 10 euros, which is like buying a cool toy. So, before you hop on a boat to Venice, make sure to bring some cash!
- This is a super special thing because Venice is the FIRST city in the whole wide world to make visitors pay an entrance fee. That means they’re doing something nobody else has ever done! Venice is really making history, my friend!
- The reason they’re doing this is because Venice has a big problem called “overtourism.” That’s a fancy word for when too many people visit a place all at once. It’s like when everyone wants to eat the same ice cream, but there’s only one scoop left. Uh-oh! Venice has been getting so many visitors that they’re almost outnumbering the people who live there. Can you believe it?
- So, the smart people who take care of Venice had a meeting and said, “Hey, let’s charge some money to keep the number of visitors under control!” That way, they can make sure there’s enough space for everyone to enjoy the city without it getting too crowded. It’s like when you have a pizza party, but you want to make sure there’s enough pizza for all your friends.
- But don’t worry, my little friend, not everyone has to pay. There are some special people who can enter Venice for free! People with disabilities, homeowners (those who live there), and even kids under six years old don’t need to buy tickets. It’s like they have a golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory!
- To wrap it all up, Venice is the first city in the whole wide world to make visitors pay money to enter. They’re trying to solve the problem of too many people visiting all at once, and this is their funny and clever idea. So, if you want to visit Venice, make sure to book online and bring some euros.
- And remember, if you’re a kid, you might get lucky and enter for free! Venice is making history, my little buddy, and who knows what other funny and exciting things they’ll come up with in the future? Keep exploring and have a blast!
