A new study suggests that besides providing strength to bones and muscles, vitamin D also may promote greater insulin sensitivity, thus lowering glucose levels and the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
 	A 25-hydroxy vitamin D blood test is recommended for finding out your Vitamin D level. A level of 20 nanograms/milliliter to 50 ng/mL is considered adequate for healthy people. A level less than 12 ng/mL indicates vitamin D deficiency.
