Watch a video: World’s largest electric plane flies successfullyLast week, the world’s largest electric plane successfully took to the skies over Washington, US.

The plane was in the air for 30 minutes and generated zero carbon emissions (harmful gases). The live video of the flight was watched by people all over the world.

It is called the Cessna 208B Grand Caravan and can carry between 9-14 people.
 	The plane is 41 feet long and can fly up to 344 km per hour.
 	It was developed by a company called Magnix. The company aims to make such flight services available for ordinary people at a lower cost.

Planes that run on fuel release carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases into the Earth's atmosphere. This is bad for the environment and leads to global warming.

However, people need to travel. So, electric planes could be a more environment-friendly answer to this problem. Currently, there are about 170 electric aircraft projects happening around the world.
