Watch Now: Tasmania in Australia becomes ‘winter wonderland’Tasmania is an island that is part of Australia, which is in the Southern Hemisphere.

The seasons in the Nothern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere are the opposite of each other. So, while we have summer now, Tasmania is experiencing the winter season.

The winter months in Tasmania are June, July, and August. It does get cold but snowfall is not very common.

However, on 5 August, people in Launceston city, Tasmania woke up to an amazing surprise - the streets were covered in snow, making it a winter wonderland!

This is such a rare event that is happening after 25 years. Normally, it snows only high up in the mountains.

This snowfall has come just days after Tasmania recorded its warmest day this winter on 1 August.

Of course, it has made many people very excited and they shared photos and videos to social media.
