WhatsApp calls bring spyware to your phone

WhatsApp (the company) has revealed that a major security flaw has been discovered in its app.

A spyware* gets injected into a user’s phone through the app’s phone call function
 	Attackers can transfer the malicious* code (program) to a victim's device by calling the user and infecting the call whether or not the recipient answered the call
 	The spyware lets hackers access the operating system of the user's phone
 	The rogue program is reported to have been developed by a Israeli cyber intelligence company

WhatsApp urges users to update app to deal with this issue

The company has reported that the issue was discovered this month
 	It claims to have addressed the problem within its own app
 	The company is encouraging users to upgrade to the latest WhatsApp upgrade

*spyware - also called malware, is unwanted software that infiltrates the victim's computing device to steal data or damage the system

*malicious - intending to do harm
