Without tourists, bears at the Yosemite National Park are “partying”

As many of us are stuck at home, I'm sure we are all getting a little bored. Can you imagine how animals in zoos feel, being stuck in one place all the time?

At the Yosemite National Park in the US, bears are making the most of this unusual situation - they are roaming where they like!

As a park ranger, Katie Patrick said, "For the most part, I think they're having a party".

Why are the wild bears "partying"?

Yosemite National Park is a very popular national park in the US. It is famed for its beautiful scenery as well as being home to many animals.
 	Normally, at this time, it gets so many tourists that animals find it difficult to roam around freely. However, the park is currently shut due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 	And so, the bears have come out to play!

While there hasn't been an increase in the bear population, they are being spotted more frequently. There are around 300 to 500 black bears living in the Yosemite National Park.

Springtime is when bears come out of their winter hibernation (sleeping time) to look for food. It is nice to see that they can roam around freely for a change!
