World Animal Welfare Day – 4 October

World Animal Welfare Day – 4 OctoberWe celebrate World Animal Welfare Day every year on 4 October. It is also known as 'Animal Lovers Day'.

We mark this day to create public awareness about the welfare of animals all over the world.

This day was first celebrated on 4 October 1931 by cynologist (people who study and train dogs) Heinrich Zimmermann.
 	World Animal Day focuses on discussions around the protection of natural habitats, supporting animal welfare and saving endangered species.
 	This day is celebrated in many different ways in every country.
 	Various countries, like India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Taiwan are organising different kinds of programmes to celebrate this day.
 	You can also be a part of this day by participating in awareness programs. You can even organise your own programme.
 	Organisations like the Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations (FIAPO) and People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) work for animals rights.
