World Diabetes Day – 14 November

World Diabetes Day – 14 NovemberDiabetes is one of the most common health disorders we see around us. It occurs when your blood glucose or blood sugar is too high.

World Diabetes Day, which is observed on 14 November every year, is a day to create awareness about diabetes.

The International Diabetes Federation(IDF) and the World Health Organization(WHO) started marking this day in 1991.
 	Currently, around 160 countries mark this day.
 	Various activities like diabetes screening programmes, radio and television campaigns, sports events, free health check-ups and marathons are organised on this day.
 	Diabetes Day has a theme every year and the theme for 2018 - 2019 is 'The Family and Diabetes'.
 	According to this year's theme, families have a key role to play in addressing risk factors and creating environments to live a healthy lifestyle.

In most cases, diabetes goes unnoticed. So, regular health check-ups help to diagnose and treat it.

On this day, let us join hands in creating awareness about diabetes.
