Young boy discovers 2500-year-old statue during a hike in the desert

Do you enjoy taking a walk or hike? Walks are a good way to stay healthy and also discover new things.

11-year-old Zvi Ben-David is a boy living in Israel. He was recently on a hike (a long walk) with his family in the Negev Desert in Israel.

During this hike, he discovered something very exciting – a 2500-year figurine (a small statue).

This ancient statue is about 3 inches tall and made of clay. It shows a woman whose scarf covers her head and neck. During ancient times, this kind of statue was used by women as a good luck symbol to protect themselves and their children.

What happened next?

After finding it on the hike, Ben-David’s mother informed officials. They found that this statue is only the second of its kind ever found in the country. Ben-David received a certificate for discovering the statue.
