Young girl donates her birthday money to flood victimsA Class 5 student named Sanmati donated her birthday gift of Rs 10,000 towards a disaster relief fund.

She had been reading about the plight of flood victims in Karnataka and felt that she should help them.
 	Sanmati gave the cheque to the Deputy Commissioner in Mangaluru, Karnataka on Monday 26th August.
 	She visited the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday morning before leaving for school.
 	The Deputy Commissioner was impressed by her generosity.

Sharing her birthday gift

The money was given to her by her grandmother for her birthday which was on August 25th.
 	This 10-year-old decided that instead of spending the birthday money on herself, she would donate for flood-affected victims.
 	Her grandmother must be so proud of her!

Last month CT shared the news of Hima Das, the national level runner from the state of Assam, contributing half her salary for flood relief in Assam.

This year India suffered a lot of damage and hardship because of floods.

Experts feel that one reason for this kind of severe flooding could be climate change.
