The City of My Dreams

Since my birth, I, as a child, have lived in many places around the world. At the moment, I am placed in Gurugram, but the place that I still have fond memories of and like to go back to is Dubai, a small city in U.A.E. Once a desert, it has completely transformed itself into a beautiful and most- sought after tourist destination. It has a lot of amusement parks, museums, and other fun places one can spend their time and have fun in.

Dubai also has the tallest tower in the world i.e. the Burj Khalifa. Every year the ruler of Dubai adds something unique, something new to the city that even if one has gone a year back, one feels like going there again. These are some of the reasons why I am in love with Dubai. It is indeed an enchanting city that I would like to spend rest of my life in!

Looking at Dubai and how it is envisioned, I too, at times, feel like creating a city: a city of my dreams where one looks forward to living and enjoying life. I would name that city ‘Bonita’ which is a Spanish word. The name itself suggests that the city is going to be very beautiful. If I had control over this city, I would try my best to keep the population at a limit with nature and greenery thriving all around.

The roads of my city would be clean, smooth and pothole free. The number of cars on the road would also be limited, so that traffic jams would not occur. The houses and buildings would be built of strong and sustainable material so that, in case a natural disaster occurs, the people living there would be safe.

Amusement centres, museums, parks with sprawling lawns and swings and hotels would be an important part of my city, because I would not want the foreigners that are coming to my city to dislike their holiday experience. Natural habitat for animals would not be allowed to fiddle with.

Schools and day-cares would function for two days in a week so that the children get to work less and enjoy more. My dream city is going to be virus-free and the people of the city healthy and fit. These are all the things I would include in my dream city.

In the words of Gautam Buddha, “What you think you become, what you feel you attract and what you imagine you create” – If I am not able to go back to Dubai, one day I definitely would create what I keep imagining for myself, and that is going to be my dream city!
