Total Lunar Eclipse: 15-16 May!

Recommended for Middle Grades

On the nights of May 15 and 16, our planet’s shadow will be cast into space in the shape of a long, narrow cone. This will draw the attention of millions of people to the sky, where they will see the moon as a copper-coloured globe.

What is a total lunar eclipse?

A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon, causing the Moon’s shadow to completely cover the Moon. When the eclipse reaches totality, those who are watching will be able to see the Moon turn red.
