Jaldoot app to monitor groundwater levels in India!

Recommended for Preparatory Grades

Hey there! Guess what? The government has come up with a super cool app called Jaldoot. It’s like a special spy that gathers information about how much water is hiding underground all over our country. Isn’t that amazing?

Jaldoot: Water Guardian

  • Now, why do we need this app, you ask? Well, you know how the water table, which is like a big water party underground, is going down really fast in many places? Yeah, that’s not good. It could even lead to a drought, which means no water for playing or plants to grow. Yikes!
  • So, to keep an eye on this sneaky water level, the government will use Jaldoot to measure it. They’ll do this twice a year: once before the rainy season and once after. You know, to see if the water table had a nice drink during the rains.

  • When will they check, you wonder? Well, during the pre-monsoon period, from May 1 to May 31, and at the end of the rainy season, from October 1 to October 31. It’s like they’re giving the water table a health check-up to make sure it’s doing okay.
  • Now, here’s the fun part. The app will take pictures of the area where they’re checking the water level. These pictures will have special tags called geotags. It’s like a secret code that shows where the pictures were taken. This way, everyone knows they’re playing fair and square.

  • Oh, and get this—Jaldoot is really smart. It can work even if it’s not connected to the internet. So, even if people don’t have access to the internet, they can still use the app. That’s pretty awesome, right?
  • All the data that Jaldoot collects will be stored in a special database called the National Water Informatics Centre. It’s like a big library where they keep all the water information. This database will help the government figure out how to save water and keep it from disappearing too fast. We need to protect our water, after all!

  • So, there you have it, my friend. Jaldoot is a special app made by the government to measure the water level underground. It’s like a water detective that helps us know if we might have a drought. Remember, water is super important, so let’s do our best to take care of it. Stay hydrated and keep on learning, little buddy!
